St. Pete welcomes hundreds of thousands of people to one of the biggest Pride events in the southeast, but finding welcoming accommodations isn't always easy.
Why it matters: LGBTQ+ people don't always feel safe while traveling, especially with their partners.
State of play: Misterb&b is an Airbnb-style short-term rental platform advertised as a safe option for queer travelers.
- Matthieu Jost said he started the site in 2014 after he and his partner were harassed while traveling abroad.
Zoom in: St. Pete still has listings available for those traveling to this weekend's festivities or looking for a stay-cay:
Sharing the Sunset: The couple that hosts this guest suite in their historic Kenwood penthouse offers oat milk lattes on their terrace.
- Sleeps 2. $288 for three nights.
Haus of Tropicale: Grab your friends and make Pride a round-the-clock pool party. This house has a heated saltwater pool, screened-in lounge, BBQ grill and outdoor games.
- Sleeps 12. $1,181 for three nights.
Marylin Monroe Suite: The bedroom of this home pays tribute to the blonde bombshell, while its backyard offers a lagoon pool, hot tub, cabana area with outdoor games, grill, picnic area, fire pit and zen rain shower.
- Plus: complimentary mimosas upon arrival!
- Sleeps 3. $188 per night.
The other side: To build trust on its platform, Airbnb has rolled out more safety features in recent years including ID verification for hosts and guests, and a way for solo travelers to easily share their itineraries with loved ones.
Meanwhile: Local hotels are also offering Pride hospitality.
- Mint House in St. Petersburg is offering custom perks and public and private pool parties.
