How the Bucs can still make the playoffs after home loss to Saints

Despite losing at home to the New Orleans Saints, the Bucs enter the NFL season's final week with their postseason hopes very much alive.

State of playoffs: The Bucs, 8-8 and tied atop the NFC South, can clinch their third-straight division title and a playoff berth by defeating the Carolina Panthers in Sunday's season finale.

The Panthers (2-14) have the league's worst record, already fired their head coach and have watched highly touted QB Bryce Young flounder in his rookie season.
Their latest display of dysfunction: During Sunday's 26-0 loss to the Jaguars, Panthers owner David Tepper was videotaped apparently tossing a drink at fans.

Yes, but: Bucs QB Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay offense struggled against the Saints and will face the Panthers on the road in Charlotte.

Mayfield threw two interceptions and suffered a rib injury, though coach Todd Bowles said yesterday he'll be "fine" for the game, ESPN reports.

The bottom line: If the Bucs take care of business against the lowly Panthers, they'll be hosting a playoff game at Ray Jay the following weekend.
