San Antonio Startup and Tech Week returns Monday for its 11th year of speakers, workshops and networking events highlighting innovation in the Alamo City.
Why it matters: The annual week of programming offers networking and support for a wide range of San Antonio small businesses.
How it works: The five days of events, running through Oct. 2, are free and open to the public with online registration; some events require separate registration.
- Sessions take place across several downtown venues, with many at Texas Public Radio, the Central Library and Geekdom at the Rand Building.
Zoom in: There are five categories: founder, tech and builders, AI and applied innovation, small business and "solopreneur," and capital.
- Sandra Velasquez, who moved her Latina beauty brand Nopalera to San Antonio last year, is a featured speaker at 1pm Tuesday at TPR.
Between the lines: Startup Week has always had tech-focused events, but isn't solely for that industry. This year, organizers added "tech" to the name to reflect "what's happening in our city right now," Charles Woodin, CEO of Startup Week organizer Geekdom, said in a statement.
- "San Antonio is home to a deep bench of developers, engineers, cybersecurity experts and AI builders, and this year's program puts their work at the center," Woodin said.
- "At the same time, this week has always been for everyone. Whether you're launching your first business, running a nonprofit, investing in local companies or simply curious about where San Antonio is headed, there's a seat for you," he added.
