San Antonio's names in the James Beard awards race

Zoom in: Mixtli, a past James Beard semifinalist and the first San Antonio restaurant to earn a Michelin distinction, is back on the national stage as a 2026 semifinalist for Outstanding Restaurant.

• Best Texas Chef: Francisco Estrada and Lizzeth Martinez (Naco Mexican), Sue Kim (The Magpie) and Emil Oliva (Leche de Tigre)
• Outstanding Pastry Chef or Baker: Tavel Bristol-Joseph (Nicosi)
• Best New Restaurant: Anacacho Coffee & Cantina

What's next: The semifinalist list will be narrowed to nominees on March 31. Winners will be announced June 15 in Chicago.
