Study: San Antonio babysitters cheapest in the U.S.

What they did: Urbansitter, a caregiving booking website, analyzed tens of thousands of bookings on its site across 30 major U.S. cities.

By the numbers: San Antonio turned out to have the lowest average hourly rate for babysitting one kid, at $16.85 per hour.

• The average local rate for two kids is $19.99 an hour.

Zoom out: The most expensive U.S. city to hire a babysitter, unsurprisingly, is San Francisco, where the average rate for one child is $28.37.

• Our neighbors up I-35 in Austin are paying an average of $22.34 per hour to watch one kid.
• The national average is $24.99 an hour for one child.
