We recently checked out Dean's Steak & Seafood inside the new Kimpton Santo Hotel.
The vibe: Dean's is set in a historic schoolhouse, giving it a cozy feel with romantic corners and low lighting.
Dig in: The Alamo ($78) includes an 8-ounce filet and lobster.
The steak had a smoky crust thanks to the house seasoning.
The lobster was broiled in a rich bone marrow butter, giving it a velvety, melt-in-your-mouth texture.
For dessert, we tried the baked Alaska ($16), a showstopper with layers of cake and ice cream encased in fluffy meringue, set ablaze at the table. The mix of warm meringue and cold ice cream made for a dreamy contrast.
