Spurs announce new holiday destination at The Rock

The Rock at La Cantera is gearing up to become a holiday wonderland.

The latest: The first-ever Winterfest is debuting at Frost Plaza, the green space at the Spurs' new complex, on Nov. 25.

It runs through Jan. 6.

What to expect: The free event includes an ice-skating rink (with skates available for rent), a dazzling Christmas tree display, holiday movie nights, caroling, Saturday visits from Santa and festive markets.

Roca & Martillo, the on-site Italian restaurant, will serve up seasonal drinks and treats for purchase from kiosks scattered throughout the event.

The bottom line: San Antonians have a new holiday destination to enjoy this year.
