Taste test of Roca & Martillo at the new Spurs facility

• The name translates to rock and hammer, a reference to the Spurs' "Pounding the Rock" mantra.
• I also liked the "Pound the rock, not the drinks" note on the cocktail menu.
• It has a stylish design and was relaxed enough that Spurs fans who were at The Rock for an NBA Draft event stopped by in their jerseys for a bite before the fun.

Dig in: I attended a media night, so I tasted my way around the menu, but I had some all-star favorites.

• The burrata di bufala, which is served with tigelle — an Italian street bread Chef Jason Dady compared to gorditas — was amazing. The fluffy bread stuffed with cheese, prosciutto and fennel jam was like charcuterie in a pocket.
• The lasagna, which is layered with brisket, was a memorable twist for my Texan taste buds.
