There's a lot to celebrate with our crisp fall mornings this week. But the approach of autumn also means we'll see less sunlight.
The big picture: Parts of the U.S. are losing more than three hours of daylight between June 20 (the summer solstice) and Sept. 22 (the fall equinox), per NOAA's handy Solar Calculator.
San Antonio is losing about two hours.
Yes, but: This has nothing to do with daylight saving time. We just change the time to give us the impression of more sunlight.
What's next: As we near November, our sunrise will occur closer to 8am and the sun will set around 6:45pm.
When the clocks shift to standard time, sunrise will occur before 7am and sunset will be around 5:45pm.
💠Megan's thought bubble: It's nice that we don't lose as much sunlight as the northern U.S. states do. But those 7:30-8am sunrises coming up are rough.
