Athletes from UTSA programs competing in Paris Olympics

Zoom in: Two former and one upcoming UTSA track and field student athletes will represent their countries in the Athletics competition at Stade de France, which begins Friday and runs through Aug. 10.

• Diego Pettorossi (UTSA class of 2022) will represent Italy.
• Alanah Yukich (class of 2023) will represent Australia.
• Fatoumata Kabo, who will join the university's track and field program this fall, will also compete for Italy.

Plus: Shelby Dale, an assistant athletic trainer for the UTSA women's soccer team, will be on the medical staff for Team USA Paralympic Track & Field.

What they're saying: "Working with (associate head coach) Kareem Streete-Thompson was a turning point in my career," Pettorossi said in a statement. "I wouldn't be here without him and the support of the Roadrunners family."

Zoom out: San Antonio is also represented in Paris by Keith Sanderson, a pistol Olympian; Andrew Hudson, a track and field athlete; and Kelly Elmlinger, who will compete at the Paralympic Games.
