Brittanny Anderson to lead dining at Richmond's new boutique hotel

State of play: Shenandoah Mansions has been in the works since 2021, after NYC-based hotelier Ash bought the former six-story retirement home off Monument Avenue for $3.5 million.

• Construction began in 2023, but stalled amid a legal dispute between the developer and contractor before resuming in March.
• Now, the 73-room hotel on Allen Avenue opens Dec. 31, with rooms starting at $290 a night.

Yes, but: For locals, the drinks and dining will be the real draw. That's where Anderson comes in. She'll oversee Shenandoah's three dining and drinking concepts:

• 🍽️ Daughter: A Southern-inspired, dinner-only restaurant celebrating the mothers and grandmothers who passed down family food traditions, per the hotelier.
• ☕ Shenandoah Café: An all-day gathering spot serving Southern classics from breakfast into the evening.
• 🍸 Phone Inn: A "fantastical" midnight garden-themed cocktail bar.

The intrigue: The venture marks a new chapter for Anderson, who announced last month that she's shuttering her Church Hill restaurants Metzger Bar & Butchery and Pink Room.

What's next: The café will open with the hotel, while Daughter and Phone Inn are expected to debut in early 2027.
