Richmond's bars, art studios become Halloween movie theaters

The big picture: Four Richmond cinema groups are behind the pop-ups, and some screenings — like "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" at Bandito's — are already sold out.

• Exposure Cinema highlights stories from Black actors and filmmakers with discussions after each film.

• Good For Her leans into cult favorites and movies about femme rage, with each event benefiting a local organization. It's raised over $21,000 since 2023.
• Nowhere Cinema plays "fun, bizarre and challenging films," per its site, and Hard Light spotlights experimental and lesser-known films.
