Sunday Bagel opens Jackson Ward shop after years of pop-ups

Sunday Bagel, a popular, long-running Richmond pop-up, has found a permanent home in Jackson Ward.
Why it matters: Fans used to have only a few hours to snag a bagel at weekend pop-ups that drew long lines and often sold out.
- Now they have seven hours a day and five days a week to get their fix.
Driving the news: The brick-and-mortar from owners Jesse and Julie Roberts opened last week across from the Richmond Dairy Building.
- The vibe: Retro crimson counters, wood paneling and a very Instagrammable bathroom, all designed by Julie, the designer behind Lillian, the Brooklyn, Antonelli's and Pizzeria Delores.
- And the shop is tip-free.
On the menu: Plain, sesame, everything and oregano everything bagels made fresh.
- The housemade cream cheese options: pickled pepper, salmon and dill, dill pickle, scallion and plain.
- Plus: Grab-and-go bagel sandwiches ($5-$15) after 11am, per its site.
- Iced coffee from Richmond's Recluse Roasting Project on draft.
By the numbers: A bagel and cream cheese combo is $6, or $4.50 each if you get two.
Pro tip: They don't serve lattes, but Buna Kurs Ethiopian Cafe is less than a 10-minute walk away.
