Tickets for WinterWorld — the immersive holiday experience taking over CarMax Park this winter — go on sale Wednesday.
Why it matters: The stadium-wide winter wonderland includes a skating rink, ice slide, Ferris wheel, more than a million lights and much more — but taking part in the full festivities won't be cheap.
By the numbers: Admission to WinterWorld starts at $14.95 for adults (13+) and $9.95 for kids (4-12), not including taxes and fees, per 804Live, the events arm for CarMax Park.
- It rises to $19.95 for adults and $14.95 for kids on weekends and on holidays, it's an extra $5 more.
But making use of most of the big deal attractions will cost attendees extra.
- For ice skating, it's an extra $13
- For the ice slide: $10
- A trip on the 60-Foot ferris wheel: $7
That means it could cost a family of four more than $150 t0 visit WinterWorld and do all the premium attractions.
Yes, but: WinterWorld is offering discounts for seniors, first responders and military members, and free admission for kids 3 and under.
- Plus, locals have one more day to win free tickets through the WinterWorld scavenger hunt. Check out the event's Instagram for details.
- And the rest of WinterWorld's attractions — like the 90-foot light tunnel, Christmas tree maze and 21+ sub-zero ice bar — are included with admission.
Catch up quick: WinterWorld is part of the Richmond Flying Squirrels' plan to turn their baseball stadium into a year-round destination, Squirrels owner Lou DiBella said when announcing it in July.
- The event will also help the team bring in revenue to cover its $3.2 million annual rent payment.
If you go: WinterWorld runs Nov. 18–Jan. 3.
