Richmond 9/11 events marking 25 years since the attacks

🇺🇸 Richmond is holding a memorial ceremony at the Marshall Street Plaza, with a moment of silence at 8:46am, a stair climb at 9am and a blood drive at 10am.

• Virginia State Police Sgt. Middleton, who responded to the Pentagon on 9/11, is among the speakers.

🕯️ The Virginia War Memorial will host the state's annual Patriot Day ceremony at 11am, including the reading of the names of those killed at the Pentagon. Free.

🤝 Hanover is encouraging people to volunteer on the Day of Service, from delivering meals to cleaning up public spaces. Times and locations vary. Find opportunities here.

❤️ Goochland has a community event at the memorial to 9/11 in Manakin Sabot, where residents will learn about how the memorial was made with pieces from the twin towers. 7pm. Free.

Saturday

🚒 The Richmond Raceway is hosting a memorial stair climb, where participants can climb the equivalent of the World Trade Center's 110 stories to honor the New York firefighters who died on 9/11. 7am check-in. $45 per climber.

📖 There's an event for kids ages 4 to 10 at the Virginia War Memorial that includes a reading of a children's history book about 9/11 and craft activities. 10:30am-11:30am. Free.
