It's unofficially the last weekend of summer. Here are a few cool things to do if you're stuck in town.
Thursday
🎡 The Chesterfield County Fair continues through Saturday, weekdays 5-11pm. Weekends, 11am-11pm. General admission is $12 for adults and $6 for children 4-12.
🎻 The Grateful Dead gets the symphony treatment when the Richmond Symphony joins an all-star Jerry Garcia tribute lineup at Allianz Amphitheater. 8pm. Tickets start at $40.50.
💙 Rich Blue Hues Fest, which explores Black diasporic culture, kicks off its four-day festival at Chromophore Artspace in Jackson Ward with a salon supper. Times and prices vary.
Friday
🎨 It's First Fridays, Richmond's monthly arts crawl with gallery openings, pop-up markets and live performances across the Arts District downtown. 5-10pm-ish depending on the spot. Free.
🏎️ It's also First Fridays at the Virginia Museum of History & Culture, which has free admission, bounce houses, face painting and food trucks. 5-8pm. Free.
Saturday
🎤 There's an all-ages (and early-bird) K-pop dance party at Ember Music Hall with K-pop-inspired remixes, pop anthems and costumes encouraged. 11am. Tickets start at $25.
🏈 Kick off college football season with Trade Night and a parking lot party at Parlay in Scott's Addition. There will be card trading, giveaways, a bounce house, face painting and tailgating games. 2-7pm. Free.
🎬 Head to the Goochland Drive-In for a Labor Day weekend double feature of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" and "Little Shop of Horrors" or "Cars" and "Coyote vs. Acme." Friday-Sunday. 8pm. $28 per car.
💖 Road trip to Charles City for Dolly Day at The Blue Heron with Dolly karaoke and sing-alongs, trivia and more. Bring a children's book to donate and get a free Dolly-decorated sugar cookie. 11:30am-11pm. Free.
🪕 Hear traditional Gnawa music at Révéler in Carytown with a solo set from Moroccan musician Ismail. 3pm. $15.
🕵️ Explore Richmond's dark side on a True Crime Tour from Old Dominion Walking Tours, featuring locally infamous murder sites. 6pm. $16.
Sunday
🌳 The Plant A Park Fest at Brambly Park will help support a future Scott's Addition park. There'll be music, vendors and more. 11am-9pm. Tickets start at $15.
🎷 Jazz in the Park brings The Chan Hall Experience to Deep Run Park for a free afternoon concert. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. 4-6pm. Free.
Monday
🎸 Wind down the long weekend with a Labor Day Bash at Gallery5 featuring Richmond's Crystal Flowers and Missangelbird, plus North Carolina indie-rock band Slow Teeth. 7-11pm. $14.64.
