Sabrina here. The closest thing to an Italian summer in Richmond might be a converted garage in Church Hill.
Why it matters: Almost everything at Giorno Market is imported from Italy, its peachy umbrellas are reminiscent of those on the Amalfi Coast and the lack of AC will make you feel very European in no time.
The big picture: Amelia and Freddie Gimenez opened the Italian-inspired market last year across from Chimbo Sandwich Shoppe.
Zoom in: Giorno's shelves are filled with delicious Italian staples, like wine, olive oil, rigatoni and cavatappi pastas, sauces, hazelnut-filled shortcut pastries, and clementine and tangerine Italian sodas.
- The market also has trinkets hidden throughout, like vintage-style olive oil canisters and Ferrari replicas, making for a solid game of "I Spy."
Plus: Giorno's serves coffee, including a peaches and cream latte and iced espresso with Italian soda. ($4-$5.50).
- And: free wine tastings every Thursday, 5-8pm.
Fun fact: Freddie has Italian citizenship and once farmed in Tuscany, per Richmond Magazine.
The bottom line: If a flight to Italy is too much right now, Richmond has a Euro summer backup.
