How to spend two screen-free hours around Richmond

State of play: Here are seven ways to spend two phone-free hours in Richmond.

🌳 Take a stroll through Maymont — any day, every day.

🧺 Picnic in the park — any of the view spots make great picnic spots, as do all Richmond parks.

• Pro tip: Grab sandwiches at Union Market or Garnett's Cafe (Garnett's will even pack a basket for you).

🖼️ Wander the VMFA grounds — just like the museum, its gorgeous grounds are completely free.

🥾 Try an urban hike — you can do the North Bank and Buttermilk Loop Trail, Belle Isle, Forest Hill Park or, our favorite option, just wander the city in any direction.

• It's a day best ended with a trip to a local brewery, for hydration, of course.

🧗‍♀️ Go climbing — Richmond has the Manchester Climbing Wall at the end of the T. Pott bridge with over 40 climbing routes.

• Pro tip: There's also a viewpoint at the top that overlooks the skyline, and is one of our favorite sunset spots.

🌇 Take in the view — Church Hill Overlook, Oregon Hill Overlook and Libby Hill Park (the view that named Richmond) are all great spots.

🛶 Do a river day — you're more likely to touch rocks, water and dirt than grass, but it's nature, so we're counting it.
