I'm not fully convinced the corgis knew they were racing for a title. Video: Sabrina Moreno/Axios
Roughly 60 corgis took over Colonial Downs this week to compete for the No. 1 spot in the track's first-ever corgi races.
Why it matters: The wiggle butts are faster than they look.
Driving the news: After eight heats on Saturday, Willow — a corgi mix from Williamsburg — was crowned the reigning champ, running 100 feet within seconds.
How she's celebrating: Likely ice cream and a pup cup, owner Liz Parlor tells Axios.

Catch up quick: Colonial Downs put a call out for people to register their dog for the race by June 10.
The prerequisites: Proof of vaccination, only one dog per owner and must be at least 50% corgi.
The bottom line: They may be low to the ground, but they're built for speed — one tiny stride at a time.
