It's almost May! Here's how to celebrate this weekend in Richmond.
Thursday, April 30
🪙 It's a big few days for coin lovers. The AccA Shriners Center on Bellevue will have over 50 tables with U.S., foreign and ancient coins through Saturday. 10am-6pm except for Saturday, which ends at 5pm.
🪴 Lewis Ginter has a spring plant sale in Parking Lot B with over 45 vendors. Noon-6pm. Free.
🎷 The Hippodrome Theater in Jackson Ward has a "Harlem Nights" themed-fundraising night for Peter Paul, a nonprofit helping the city's East End. 5-8pm. $125, which includes two free drinks. Wear purple cocktail attire.
🏳️🌈 Take an LGBTQ+ history walking tour of Carytown with The Valentine, starting at the Byrd Theatre. 6-7:30pm. Pay-what-you-can.
💃🏻 Dance some bachata on the water at The Lilly Pad. 7-11pm. $7.18.
🎡 It's the last weekend for the Chesterfield Towne Center Carnival, which ends Sunday. Times vary. $5 admission, $37 unlimited ride wristband.
Friday, May 1
🚋 It's First Fridays, and that means karaoke while atop a free trolley that picks you up at 6th and Broad Street. 6-8:00pm. Free.
🎭 Comedian Kathy Griffin is at The National. 8pm. Tickets start at $46.
Saturday, May 2
🏃🏻♀️ Run a 5K in honor of America's 250th birthday that has Revolutionary War-era reenactors along the path and starts at Henrico's Osborne Park. 9am-10:30am. Race day registration is about $25.
🐻 Maymont's Virginia Wildlife Trail reopens after a two-year project with new habitats and more ways to view the animals — which include Big Bear and Little Bear. 10am-4pm. Free.
🐝 The annual Chesterfield Bee Festival is at the county fairgrounds this year with live music from … the Bee Flats. 10am-3pm. Free.
🍓 The Strawberry Street Festival Fox Elementary fundraiser is back at Hanover Avenue for the first time since the fire, with food, live DJs, magicians, carnival games, bounce houses and raffle prizes. 11am-4pm.
- Individual tickets are $1. Wristbands are $22 in advance, $25 at the door.
🎉 There's an Asian American Celebration at the Greater Richmond Convention Center with an Asian Marketplace, a variety of foods from across Asia from local chefs and dance performances. 11am-7pm. Free.
🎨 It's Arts in the Park time at Byrd Park, with over 400 artists taking over the space through Sunday. 11am-6pm (5pm on Sunday). Free.
Sunday, May 3
🌮 Hardywood's West Creek location has its 2026 RVA Taco Festival with 10 local food trucks and taquerias. Noon-6pm. Free but $10 donation recommended for domestic violence nonprofit Safe Harbor.
