Richmond brewery named Sam Adams experienceship finalist

Intermission Beer Company is in the running to win an "experienceship" at Samuel Adams, the Boston brewery announced last week.

Why it matters: The woman-owned Glen Allen brewery is one of six finalists selected from a nationwide pool.

Driving the news: Sam Adams has run its "Brewing & Business Experienceship" contest since 2012 as part of its "Brewing the American Dream" initiative designed to help small craft brewers.

Each year, it chooses one "standout brewer" to spend a year working side by side with its experts to further the winner's brewing and business knowledge.
As one of the finalists, Intermission founders Courtney and Justin White will travel to Brooklyn in June to serve up their brews at the "Crafting Dreams Beer Bash," where invitees will pick the winner.

What they're saying: "When Justin and I started this journey, we were just two VCU theater nerds with a homebrewing hobby," Courtney wrote in a statement.

"Being recognized by the team at Sam Adams feels like a standing ovation we never expected."
