We've rounded up 10 of Richmond's best rooftops, from Carytown and the Fan to downtown and Shockoe.
Why it matters: Most of them just reopened, and there's nothing that makes life worth living quite like a drink with a view.
Quirk

Fun fact: Quirk Hotel's rooftop is celebrating 10 years. Shortly after opening in 2016, Condé Nast Traveler named it one of the best rooftop bars in the U.S.
Pro tip: Go to Bar Solita first for happy-hour drinks (4-7pm on weekdays) or a Mega Mule (meant to be shared with 4 people) and then head over to Quirk's rooftop for sunset.
Stop by: 201 West Broad St. Open daily, 5-11pm.
The Hof

Fun fact: Their rooftop, which looks over parts of Scott's Addition and Broad Street, is back this season with a new bar, new furniture, craft cocktails and a full-service restaurant.
Pro tip: If you go on the same night of a Flying Squirrels game, you can catch the postgame fireworks. And if you want to dance, head downstairs to one of their speakeasies.
Stop by: 2816 West Broad St. on the third floor.
- Open Tuesday-Thursday, 4-10pm; Friday, 4pm-1am; Saturday, 11am-1am; Sunday, 11am-9pm.
Common House

Fun fact: This membership-only spot is now the only rooftop bar in the city with an open pool, since the Graduate's is indefinitely closed. It also has a full-service menu.
Pro tip: Members can bring guests for free, so choose your friends wisely.
Stop by: 303 West Broad St. Open Monday-Thursday, 8am-10pm; Friday, 8am-midnight; Saturday, 10am-midnight.
Solaire

Fun fact: The tallest rooftop bar in the city, Solaire took over the former Kabana space last year. It's also one of the bougiest rooftop options, and feels like a swanky beach club.
Pro tip: If it's raining, don't let that keep you away. Solaire has indoor seating.
Stop by: 700 East Main St. on the 20th floor of Homewood Suites by Hilton.
- Open Tuesday-Thursday, 5-10pm; Friday, 5pm-midnight; Saturday, 2pm-midnight; Sunday, 11am-5pm.
The Graduate

Caveat: The Graduate's Byrd House rooftop doesn't open until April 10, per an Instagram post. But that's only a week away.
Pro tip: Get there around sunset. This rooftop somehow feels 10 times hotter than the rest.
What we're watching: If they bring back their frosé slushies.
Stop by: 301 West Franklin St. on the 16th floor. Usually open Wednesday-Sunday, 4pm-midnight.
New York Deli

Fun fact: The Rockaway Beach Rooftop Tiki Bar, which overlooks Carytown, got a major upgrade this year and now has another stairway entrance from inside New York Deli.
Pro tip: They have a happy hour from 3-7pm that includes $5 rails and $7 cocktails. They also have $7 milkshakes.
Stop by: 2920 West Cary St.
- Open Wednesday, 3-9pm; Thursday-Friday, 5pm-2am; Saturday, 6pm-2am; Sunday, noon-7pm.
Starr Hill

Fun fact: This is the only Richmond brewery, so far, with a rooftop. It was co-founded in Charlottesville by Coran Capshaw, a manager of Dave Matthews Band who is behind Allianz Amphitheater.
Pro tip: Check their Instagram to see which food truck will be posted up there that day.
Stop by: 3406 West Leigh St. Open Monday-Wednesday, 4-9pm; Thursday, 4-10pm; Friday-Saturday, noon-11pm and Sunday, noon-8pm.
Marylou's

Fun fact: The Penthouse, formerly Postbellum's rooftop, was inspired by Miami and there's almost always a DJ.
Stop by: 1323 West Main St.
- Usually open Wednesday, 4-9pm; Thursday, 4-10pm; Friday-Saturday, 4-11pm.
Havana '59
Fun fact: The enclosed rooftop looks out onto 17th Street Market in Shockoe.
Pro tip: Go on Thursday for their weekly salsa nights and order one of their seven mojitos.
Stop by: 16 North 17th St.
- Open Monday-Thursday, 4-11:30pm; Friday-Saturday, 4pm-1am; Sunday, noon-10pm.
Juan's
Pro tip: The Arts District rooftop might not have a skyline view, but it does have $2 margs and $2 tacos on Tuesdays.
Stop by: 11 West Broad St. Open Tuesday-Thursday, 5-10pm; Friday, 5pm-2am; Saturday, 3pm-2am.

- Importante Bodega Bar in Carytown, which has weekly wine tastings on Wednesdays.
- Twin Hickory Tavern in Henrico at Regency Mall.
