Winter storm watch in effect as Richmond eyes weekend snow

Round two of more snow for Richmond is looking increasingly likely for the weekend, per the National Weather Service.

Why it matters: Many neighborhood streets are still covered in ice from the last storm.

Driving the news: Richmond could get as little as an inch — or as much as eight due to a storm that will bring snow into the southern Mid-Atlantic beginning Friday night.

RVA had a 48% chance of getting four inches of snow or more as of Thursday afternoon, per NWS.

Timeline: Most of the snow is expected to fall on Saturday and end overnight into Sunday.

What they're saying: "This rapidly deepening storm system will produce powerful onshore winds along the Mid-Atlantic Coast from the North Carolina Outer Banks northward," NWS said Thursday.

NWS also warns of "near-blizzard conditions ... across northeastern North Carolina and Southeastern Virginia."
As much as a foot of snow is possible along the North Carolina coast.

Threat level: Metro Richmond is under a winter storm watch from tonight through Sunday.

What we're watching: For springtime and sunshine.
