If you need to start planning a trip out of Dodge (for your sanity), know that road-tripping to another major airport might save you some cash.
By the numbers: Richmond's airport fares average about $403 in recent years, higher than the nationwide average of about $386.
Baltimore-Washington International Airport and Dulles average much lower, clocking in at $365, $374 respectively, Axios' D.C. reports.
Between the lines: Competition usually keeps prices down, and D.C. and the surrounding area offer more nonstop destinations and low-cost carrier options.
But at a savings of at least roughly $30 per ticket, you'll have to calculate if it's worth the extra costs of gas and parking.
Either way, going anywhere but here seems like a fantastic idea about now.
