Exclusive: Wong Gonzalez to close after nearly 10 years on East Grace

State of play: EAT, the largest independent restaurant group in Richmond, opened the Latin-Asian fusion concept at 412 E. Grace St. in 2016, helping to establish a mini restaurant row in the downtown district.

• Wong joined Pasture (now Lillie Pearl), Julep's and Rappahannock on the 300-500 blocks of Grace Street. Soon after, restaurants like Pop's (now Buttermilk and Honey) and Secret Sandwich Society located there.
• The group's other Wong restaurants, which go by Wong's Tacos, will remain open.
• And EAT's plan for more new restaurants, including a Wong's Taco in Hanover, remains on track.

What we're watching: Wong's Taco in Hanover and a Short Pump Italian restaurant with chef Kevin LaCivita should open in spring, Tsui tells Axios.

• Lucky AF's Forest Hill spot will likely open early next year.
