Police: No more charges in Richmond's Monroe Park mass shooting

• It also means one of the key questions on who shot Smith and injured five other bystanders after Huguenot's graduation ceremony remains unanswered after two years.
• Amari Pollard, the only suspect, pleaded guilty last year to killing Jackson.

Zoom in: In an almost seven-and-a-half-minute video posted Tuesday, RPD chief Rick Edwards said there's not enough evidence to determine who caused Smith's death or the other injuries.

• The bullet that hit Smith was found, but the weapon was never recovered, per Edwards.
• Edwards also said that Pollard didn't shoot Smith.
• And Edwards said the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office determined the two other minors involved in the shooting acted "in defense of others" — and therefore cannot be held "criminally responsible" under Virginia law.

What they're saying: "June 6, 2023, was one of the worst days in our city's history," Edwards said.

• "Graduation ceremonies should be a sacred place where young people can celebrate their accomplishments with their families and loved ones without fear."

What we're watching: One of the bystanders from the shooting filed a lawsuit against Richmond Public Schools in June for $1 million in damages.
