It's a big summer fest weekend in RVA, so let's dive in.
π The Carytown Watermelon Festival is Sunday, bringing locals a full day of watermelon bowls ($2), live music, food vendors, sidewalk sales and watermelon-themed specials at participating restaurants. 10am-6pm. Free.
π Don't skip the booth from Mountain Lake Lodge, better known as Kellerman's Mountain House in the film "Dirty Dancing" β the Virginia lodge where the iconic flick was filmed.
- The folks from the Mountain Lake will be in Richmond to promote (and give away two tickets to) their "Dirty Dancing Days Summer Festival" next weekend.

π· The Richmond Jazz & Music Festival is back at Maymont, and this year's lineup includes headliners T.I., CeeLo Green and Dru Hill. Saturday and Sunday, 1-10pm. One-day tickets start at $145.
π The biggest day of thoroughbred racing in Virginia is happening on Saturday at Colonial Downs with its 2025 Festival of Racing.
- There will be horse races, kids activities, like a petting zoo and face painting, and a performance by "American Idol" contestant, and local, Grayson Torrence. Noon-5pm. $5.
πͺThe JamPacked Festival at Brown's Island on Saturday is indeed jam-packed, with Lotus, Moon Taxi, Spafford, TAUK Moore and Kendall Street Company. Gates open at 3pm. Tickets start at $59.59.
ποΈ The Great American Ranch restaurant's Mechanicsville location is doing a car show and rockabilly night. Peep cars, listen to tunes and enjoy food and drinks from 5pm-midnight. Free.
Sunday
π Get your strange on with the The Oddities & Curiosities Expo, Saturday and Sunday at the Convention Center. 10am-4pm (until 6pm on Saturday). $12 in advance.
πΈ Music legend Neil Young performs at Allianz Amphitheater on Sunday. 7:30pm. Tickets start at $73.35.
