Julio's Bagels in Richmond keeps selling out — and we get why

Sabrina here. Nothing calls me to a place faster than when someone says the food keeps selling out.
That's how I found myself at Julio's Bagels, the city's newest bagel shop, on Brookland Park Boulevard this weekend.
- Julio's, which is from the owner of Pizza Bones, has become known for the consistently winding, sort-of-intimidating line out the door in the two weeks it opened.
- And while I got through within 20 minutes, and had my boiled-and-baked bagel in hand less than 10 minutes later, I was one of the last to order before they sold out.
- That was just before 10:30am Saturday. They're open until 2pm.
What I got: A salt bagel (they have plain, sesame and everything, too) with cheddar, egg, hot sauce, butter and bacon (which is an extra $3). Total: About $11 with tax.
Verdict: Julio's promises a "crispy on the outside and soft on the inside" bagel, per their site — and they deliver.
- It might just be my new favorite bagel spot for when I need a good salty, cheesy and saucy crunch (sorry, Nate's).

Pro tip: Get there early and plan to take it to go unless you're able to snag one of the six seats inside or a spot in the parklet.
