Roughly 20 protests are planned across Virginia on Thursday as part of a nationwide rally that organizers say is against President Trump's "war on working people" and the "billionaire takeover" of the federal government.
Why it matters: Protests against the Trump administration have shown no signs of stopping these past few months and keep drawing thousands of people statewide.
The big picture: This grassroots action — which is from 50501, the same group that's been organizing previous rallies — aligns with International Workers' Day.
It also comes days after a separate pro-Palestine protest at VCU, where police arrested one student, and weeks since VCU students protested visa revocations and the university's response.
Zoom in: Thursday's events are part of more than 1,110 scheduled across all 50 states and D.C.
They also span every corner of Virginia, including: Richmond, Bristol, Roanoke, Virginia Beach, Harrisonburg and Northern Virginia.
What's next: The one in Richmond starts in Monroe Park at 5pm.
