Virginia has two state songs — and we want to change them

Catch up quick: We technically already have two.

• The General Assembly designated "Our Great Virginia" as the official traditional state song and "Sweet Virginia Breeze," which was written by Richmonders, as the official popular song in 2015.
• Virginia hadn't had a state song since 1997, when lawmakers retired "Carry Me Back to Old Virginia" over its racist lyrics.
• They also tried making it "Oh Shenandoah" in 2006, even though that song is about travelers going down the Missouri River.

The latest: We think Virginia deserves a song that sounds like it's from this century.

• Sabrina's vote: "Give It To Me" by Norfolk native Timbaland because "if you see us in the club, we'll be acting real nice," but also "if you see us in the club, go on and walk the other way."
• Karri's vote: "Get Your Freak On" by Missy Elliott, because of her immense love for Missy.
