Richmond's first pickleball festival will happen in May

Richmond is set to have its first-ever pickleball festival in May.

Why it matters: The pickleball enthusiasts have won.

Driving the news: The inaugural Pickle Ball Festival will take over Regency Mall grounds and Performance Pickleball, the 12-court-deep pickleball facility within it, on May 3.

Highlights of the daytime fest include:

Live music from Sidepiece and DJ Tony.
Food trucks, plus wine, beer and cocktails for sale.
Vendors selling pickleball equipment, apparel and more.

The festival is open to seasoned and passionate picklers and the pickler-curious.

If you go: The Pickle Ball Festival is Saturday, May 3, noon-4pm.

Tickets start at $10, kids 10 and under are free.
