Virginia has new vehicle state inspection stickers

Virginians will get a new state inspection sticker when they take their cars in for their annual review this year.

Why it matters: The new stickers are designed to be harder to counterfeit, per Virginia State Police.

The big picture: They replace the outgoing yellow ones, and include holographic images of the state seal and dogwood tree flower.

Those images "are difficult for counterfeiters to effectively copy," per VSP.
Also new for the stickers: Two QR codes, the larger of which directs to the Virginia State Police Safety Division webpage while the smaller one is for administrative purposes.

What's next: The images will stay the same on the stickers, but the colors will rotate each year. 2026 will be blue, then red in 2027 and yellow in 2028.
