Movieland in Scott's Addition is getting bigger seats, screens and an in-house arcade

Movieland, Richmond's only first-run movie theater, is getting a big-deal glow-up.

Why it matters: It's the biggest update to the Scott's Addition movie theater since it opened in 2009.

The big picture: Over the next six months, Movieland will roll out bigger chairs, bigger screens, an in-house playland and enhanced dining options, the theater announced this week.

By spring, local theater-goers can expect:

💺 Luxury electric recliners with attached individual tables across its 15 auditoriums.
📺 Two new "extreme large format auditoriums" with 50-foot wide screens, plus larger screens in the rest of them.
🎳 An in-house arcade with duckpin bowling.
🍻 More and better food and beverage offerings, including in its bar.

What's next: Six of the planned 15 new theaters will have the luxury seating installed by Christmas, per a Movieland news release.
