Deli goes vintage

New York Deli has a brand new sign nearly 100 years in the making.

Driving the news: The Carytown restaurant last month unveiled its new sign, which is an exact replicate of the one that hung there in the 1930s.

• To execute their vision, they worked worked with Richmond-based custom sign shop Wellcraft MFG to recreate the circa 1930s sign.
• The restaurant opened in 1929, making it the city's oldest, and has been at 2920 W. Cary St. since 1934.

Fun fact: The deli is credited with inventing the sailor sandwich.
