Where to get your Richmond bagel fix on Mondays: Baltik's Bagels

• Some people in line told me they hadn't been yet but were thanking the big guy up above for South Richmond finally having a bagel place.
• Others said it was their third time there within days.
• And I was telepathically thanking owner Yero Rudzinskas for choosing to have Baltik's open on Mondays (Nate's and Chewy's, the only other bagel shops in Richmond, are closed until Wednesday).

What to expect: It might be a 10-minute wait to order depending on how busy it is, but once you order, the bagel sandwich will be in your hands within 2-3 minutes. 

• I was impressed considering the wait at Nate's on the weekends can sometimes take two hours.

What I got: The Smokeshow, which has scrambled eggs, bacon, melted smoked gouda, hot pepper cream cheese, chipotle mayo and hot honey on an everything bagel. $7.95.

My take: Where has this been all my life? 

• I've notoriously said that bagels don't count as breakfast sandwiches, but this one is an exception. It was one of the most flavorful bagel sandwiches I've had. 
• The softness of the bagel was countered by the crispy bacon, and the saltiness of the bacon was balanced with the hot honey. 
• And now I have to go back to try the rest of the menu.

If you go: The dreaded Forest Hill construction means Richmonders will have to pull into the Shops at Stratford Hills to do a U-turn and then turn into the Food Lion to get to it.

• The parking lot can be tight so I recommend backing in.
