Grammy nominations: Shaboozey up for song of the year, best new artist

They include:

• Best New Artist, where he'll be up against Chappell Roan (who played in Richmond in May) and Sabrina Carpenter.
• Song of the Year for "A Bar Song (Tipsy)."
• Best Country Solo Performance.
• Best Melodic Rap Performance for Cowboy Carter's "Spaghettii" with Beyoncé and Linda Martell.

Flashback: The Woodbridge native has had a wild year.

• He was featured twice on Beyoncé's "Cowboy Carter," which is up for album of the year.
• He was the first Black male artist, and the second-ever Black artist, to top both the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs charts.
• And he became the sound of ACC college football in September.

Plus, if he's still No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 by the end of November, he'll be the runner-up for having the longest reign on the chart in history.

Meanwhile, "The Wiz" is in the running for Best Musical Theater Album and the cast includes Richmonder Nichelle Lewis, who plays Dorothy.

• Chris Brown, who is from Tappahannock, is nominated for Best R&B Performance, Best R&B Album, Best African Music Performance and Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song.
