Ash & Olive restaurant and market from Three Sheets drummer opening soon in Ashland

The big picture: Brooks is bringing Ash & Olive, a fast casual all-day cafe and market, to the heart of Ashland.

• Locals might recognize Brooks from his work as the brand ambassador for Belle Isle Moonshine, or his time behind the bars at Comfort, Cafe Diem, The Hard Shell and Europa, or possibly from his longest-running gig as drummer for beloved yacht rock cover band, Three Sheets to the Wind.
• But through all the jobs over the decades, Brooks and his wife harbored a secret dream of one day opening a little wine bar.
• Ash & Olive is that dream realized, though his wife is keeping her day job, he tells Axios.

Zoom in: Ash & Olive will have an "an impressive wine program," he says, serving affordable classics along with some fun stuff from "less-known vineyards," all available to drink in-house or by the bottle from a small retail section.

• The restaurant will also serve craft cocktails, plus a "Euro-American" menu of stone hearth-cooked sandwiches, artisanal pizzas, salads and entrees like steak frites. Most items will be priced in the teens and topping out in the low-$20 range.

• They'll offer counter service for casual dining, plus a grab-and-go selection for folks who don't want to wait.

What's next: Ash & Olive should open the week after Labor Day at 107 S. Railroad Avenue and will serve breakfast and lunch daily, plus dinner every night but Sunday.
