The famous Budweiser Clydesdales are in Richmond this week

The big picture: They've become the reason many nonfootball fans tune into the Super Bowl since 1986.

• They sat out in 2021 and 2023 and then made people who love unlikely animal friendships cry this year with a commercial featuring them and a yellow Labrador bringing beer to a bar in a snowstorm.
• And nearly 20 years ago, we saw a donkey fulfill his dream of being a Clydesdale despite the slight height difference.

The latest: Now they'll be parading through Carytown on Thursday as part of a nationwide tour to celebrate the 14-year partnership with Folds of Honor, a nonprofit that provides educational scholarships to some military families.

• The Clydesdales will start at Kroger at 5pm — with an escort from Richmond Raceway pace cars — and end their Carytown beer deliveries at New York Deli.
• Then they'll make an appearance at the Flying Squirrels game on Friday for a pregame lap.

Fun fact: The Clydesdales also made an appearance at a Flying Squirrels game in 2013.
