Where to celebrate National Hot Dog Day in Richmond

In honor of National Hot Dog Day, made possible thanks to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council (yes, it's real), we're rounding up where to get your sausage fix today.

First up, we've got City Dogs, which foodie outlet "loveFOOD" recently named as one of the best hot dog restaurants in the U.S.

They have locations in the Fan and Shockoe with at least 16 hot dogs on the menu under $5, including the Richmond Original with chili, mustard and onions.
Hours: 11am-midnight.

Ellie's Hot Dogs and Ice Cream on North Arthur Ashe Boulevard has a BOGO deal for the holiday and a create-your-own option.

Hours: 11:30am-6pm.

The Doghouse, also on North Arthur Ashe, is a takeout-only spot that has a chili hot dog topped with Frito crumbles. $7.

Hours: 10am-3pm.

Black Lodge in Scott's Addition has two main hot dog options (plus $5 late-night dogs from 9pm to close) that include the Alpine Dog, which has fondue, speck, onions, cornichon and grain mustard. $10.

Hours: 5pm-midnight.

Joey's Hot Dogs in Innsbrook, a hot dog institution for over 80 years, has handcrafted wieners that you can top with their homemade chili that's been a family recipe since the 1930s.

Hours: 10am-4pm.

Melito's on Three Chopt Road calls their hot dogs "world famous," and all are served with mustard, onion and homemade chili. Their Junkyard Dog has bacon, coleslaw and sweet relish. $5.75.

Hours: 11am-9pm.
