I wear my love for karaoke loud and proud and thought it'd be selfish to gatekeep where to get over your stage fright in Richmond.
So here's a compilation of where to karaoke like no one's watching (even though they definitely are — in a good way).
Pro tip: Paramore and Chris Stapleton's "Tennessee Whiskey" are always solid crowd pleasers.
Every night
Lakeside Tavern. Technically Henrico, but I'm counting it. Starts at 7:45pm.
Monday
Helen's in the Fan. 10pm-2am. 21+.
Buddy's Place in the Museum District. 10pm-1am.
Tuesday
Juan's Rooftop & Cantina in the Arts District. 6pm.
Aces Sports Lounge in Shockoe. 8pm-12am.
Sticky Rice in the Fan. 10:30pm-2am.
- Besides being able to dance on the tabletops, it's cool to also have the song's music video playing as you sing.
Wednesday
Bellos Lounge in Shockoe. 6-10pm.
Locker Room in Forest Hill. 7pm.
- Ideal for anyone who doesn't mind smoke-filled bars.
The Park near the Diamond. 7-11pm.
- It also has a private karaoke room that can be booked for events.
Babe's in Carytown. 8:30pm.
- There's also line dancing at 7pm.
Bandito's (where Sabrina got her start in Richmond) in the Museum District. 10pm.
- Great for crooners and classic country music fans.
Thursday (karaoke primetime)
Ardent Craft Ales in Scott's Addition. 7-10pm.
Bryan Park Bar & Grill in Lakeside. 7:30-10pm.
- Trivia is from 6-7:30pm.
Barcode downtown. 8pm.
Fallout in Shockoe has Goth Karaoke. 9pm-1am.
New York Deli in Carytown. 9pm-1am.
- Gets more clubby than the usual karaoke night in Richmond but it's worth it.
Penny Lane Pub (Sabrina's favorite) downtown. 9:30pm.
- Get there early to snag a table for peak enjoyment. Ideally a corner one.
Social 52 in the Fan. 10pm-1am.
- Emptier than the average Richmond karaoke night which means a short wait and an ideal spot for first timers.
City Beach in the Fan. 10pm.
Friday
Thirsty's Bar and Grill in Forest Hill. 7pm.
Harlem Blue'Z in Brookland Park. 8:30-11:30pm.
