The internet was on fire with local April Fools' jokes.

Why it matters: We (read: Karri) briefly fell for some of them.

Zoom in: Here are three of our favorites.

🐏 Ewe de Rodney, the scent of pride

The best of the best, the clear winner of local April Fools pranks, was VCU for its Ewe de Rodney, the school's first-ever signature fragrance.

  • In a fully-fleshed out story, complete with a 30-second promotional video, VCU PR staffer Elinor Frisa shared the journey to create the school's first perfume — a scent, if you will, of pride.
  • Inspired by the "essence" of school mascot, Rodney the Ram, Ewe de Rodney smells like: "James River rock pools, common food aromas from Shafer Court Dining Center, sturgeon musk and sweat from the fragrance's namesake, VCU mascot Rodney the Ram."

🏢 High-density Windsor

Windsor Farms neighborhood plans to change its zoning to allow for higher-density, mixed-use, and transit and pedestrian-friendly development within its boundaries, Richmond-based climate scientist Jeremy Hoffman tweeted.

  • The 100-year-old neighborhood designed for the "well-to-do of Richmond" cited years of underbuilding in the region and its own economic privilege for the change.

🤑 Billionaire pays up

Billionaire Washington Capitals and Wizards owner Ted Leonsis will use his own money to upgrade the Capital One Arena, tweeted D.C. educator and activist Scott Goldstein.

  • D.C. will put its planned $515 million arena (and surrounded area) investment towards schools instead.
