How to celebrate St. Patrick's Day weekend 2024 in Richmond

Zoom in: Shamrock the Block is Saturday, noon-6pm, back for the second year on Leigh Street from Movieland to Bon Secours Training Facility.

• The free festival includes live music, kids activities (face painting and bounce houses), food trucks and beer. Lots and lots of beer (wine and cocktails will also be available).

The Church Hill Irish Festival — Richmond's classy St. Paddy's celebration — is Saturday and Sunday, 10am-6pm, on East Broad and 25th in Church Hill.

• The fest is free, but a $5 donation is suggested for access to the bag-pipers, Irish food, kids stuff, dancing and beer trucks. Don't miss the parade at 10am Sunday.

But wait — there's more Irish fun this weekend.

• Rosie Connolly's in Shockoe Bottom is throwing its annual St. Patrick's Day party on the tented patio with Irish dancing and bagpipes Saturday and Sunday.
• ​​O'Toole's is throwing down Saturday and Sunday too with live music, bagpipers and plenty of Irish food and drink.
• As is Rare Olde Times Public House in the West End.
