Hi everyone! I'm Sabrina, and I'm beyond happy to be here.

A little about me: I partially claim Miami as the city that raised me, but I've been in the Richmond area for the past 15 years (outside of a 4-year stint at JMU. Go Dukes).

  • My first full-time job was at the Richmond Times-Dispatch as the COVID-19 reporter focused on Virginia's pandemic response and the virus' impact on Latino and immigrant communities.
  • I also covered housing, protests, ICE facilities, local and state politics and the very controversial removal of some Byrd Park geese.
  • Last year, I worked for Axios on the national health care team covering the opioid epidemic and mental health.

Zoom in: I live in the Fan, where you can spot me training for the half-marathon in March or blasting "Gasolina" by Daddy Yankee at 5:30 a.m on the way to the gym.

Some of my fave Richmond things: Karaoke nights at Penny Lane Pub, sunsets at Jefferson Park, dirty chai lattes from Black Hand Coffee Co., breakfast sandwiches from Sammich, literally anything from Abuelita's, pupusas from Pupuseria El Salvadoreño and the daily spotting of a singular chicken wing bone on the sidewalk.

The bottom line: I love this city so much I cry tears of joy every time I come back to it.

  • And I want to know all your secrets — or simply what you want to see me write about. Sunset pics are welcome, too, at [email protected].
