North Carolina Courage midfielder Ashley Sanchez is on fire right now, after notching another two goals in the Courage's midweek win over Angel City.

Why it matters: Sanchez has now scored 15 goals this season, which not only leads the National Women's Soccer League but also breaks the record for most goals in a season for the Courage.

Sanchez, a California native who played at UCLA, also tied the single-season scoring record by an American player in the league.

What's next: With nine games left, Sanchez has a shot at breaking the league's single-season record of 20 goals.
