The Carolina Hurricanes are launching their own sports network ahead of next season after their existing broadcast partner shut down operations.
Why it matters: The Hurricanes will join three other teams in partnering with the NHL to create their own sports broadcasts, a move that has come in response to a collapse in the local broadcasting market, the Sports Business Journal reports.
FanDuel Sports Network Southeast, which broadcast Hurricanes games last season, shut down operations this spring.
Zoom in: The Hurricanes said further details on the network's name and how it will be distributed are still to come. But it promised that games would be available on cable, satellite and streaming services.
State of play: Pricing will be announced before the start of the season.
Broadcasts will feature play-by-play announcer Mike Maniscalco and television analyst Tripp Tracy.
