After two power-play goals and multiple key saves from goalie Brandon Bussi, the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Vegas Golden Knights 4-2 last night at Lenovo Center.
Why it matters: The Canes are one victory away from winning the Stanley Cup for just the second time in franchise history.
State of play: There were lots of contributors for the Canes, but Bussi — the first-year goalie who journeyed this year from the minors to the pinnacle of the sport — is becoming one of the biggest cult heroes in Hurricanes' lore.
In only his second start of the playoffs, Bussi made 22 saves on the 24 shots he faced, including some huge stops late in the third period. In return, the home crowd showered him with deafening chants of his name.
Zoom in: Outside of Bussi, veteran Jordan Staal continued his hot run, scoring in a fifth straight game.
And after a quiet start to the Final, the Canes' top line showed up in a serious way, with Andrei Svechnikov scoring two power-play goals and Sebastian Aho adding his first goal of the series.
What's next: The series now shifts to Las Vegas on Sunday for Game 6, with Lord Stanley's Cup on the line.
