Strawberry season has arrived in North Carolina, and local farms are opening their fields for pick-your-own visitors.
State of play: We visited Waller Family Farm (5030 Kerley Road, Durham) on Friday, and the berries were deep red, sweet and practically falling off the plants.
Two half-gallons cost $20.
One of the best parts was the intoxicating fruity aroma following us through the rows. You just don't get that at the supermarket.
