If the New England Patriotspull off a Super Bowl win with Drake Maye at quarterback, his alma mater would join a small and unusually eclectic club.
Why it matters: UNC-Chapel Hill could land at the rare intersection of presidential history, Hollywood accolades and Super Bowl success.
Zoom in: It would become the sixth school to produce both a U.S. president and a Super Bowl-winning quarterback, Yahoo Sports reporter Kendall Baker noted in a post on X.
Zoom harder: Sportswriter Adam Spencer posted on X that UNC could also become the sixth school with both a Super Bowl-winning quarterback and an Oscar winner for Best Actor/Actress.
Tar Heel Louise Fletcher won for her portrayal of Nurse Ratched in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest."
Fun fact: The only school that already appears on both lists is Stanford — attended by quarterbacks John Elway and Jim Plunkett, former President Herbert Hoover and actress Reese Witherspoon.
Stanford is where Maye and the Patriots are practicing ahead of the big game in the San Francisco Bay Area.
