Biscuits & Banjos, a festival launched last year by the award-winning North Carolina musician Rhiannon Giddens, will transition to a one-night show this year.
Why it matters: The festival, which celebrates the influence of Black art and Black culinary traditions, took over downtown Durham for three days last year and brought in national acts.
Driving this news: This year, Biscuits & Banjos will take place on April 27 on stage at the Durham Performing Arts Center.
Giddens and her band will perform with notable artists like Mavis Staples, the Blind Boys of Alabama, Rissi Palmer and Toshi Reagon.
The big picture: The Triangle's music festival scene is in a state of transition, with the slimming down of Biscuits & Banjos and the creation of Raleigh Wide Open after the departure of the World of Bluegrass Festival.
The future of the Dreamville Festival remains hazy after its organizers promised the city of Raleigh it would return under a new name. The name of the festival or a potential lineup and dates have not yet been revealed.
