Giorgio Bakatsias, the prolific restaurateur behind spots like Vin Rouge and Nikos in Durham, East End Bistrot in Raleigh and Osteria Georgi in Chapel Hill, is back with a new restaurant.
Why it matters: The Bakastias empire's relentless expansion continues. It now boasts 21 restaurants from Chapel Hill to Wilmington, and recently added a new sushi restaurant in Raleigh while nabbing a Michelin recommendation for its Greek restaurant, Nikos.
Zoom in: This spring, Giorgios Group will open Géos Tavern & Oyster Bar in the former Tobacco Road Sports Cafe space at 1118 Environ Way in Chapel Hill.
The restaurant will be led by chef and Giorgios Group partner Daniel Jackson, currently the executive chef at Osteria Georgi, who previously worked at the Michelin-starred Eleven Madison Park in New York.
What to expect: The menu has yet to be revealed, but Giorgios describes it as pairing tavern food with a lively beverage program.
The space is designed for folks to linger over drinks, with a prominent lounge and an outdoor patio.
